Anti Slam

#thebabyquestion is a devised research based performance for three female performers, investigating how the decision of whether or not to have a child impacts women differently than men, inside and outside of relationships, and how the weight of this decision can create pressure on career and relationships, and the often silent strain under small talk conversations that crop up around it. Other themes to be explored are the idea of the biological clock, the health risks of contraception (and how it is still seen as a woman’s issue.)

The process of the project will be informed by the interview based practice Paula has developedon previous solo shows, but for the first time will be shared and shaped with two collaborators: Luca Rutherford & Catriona James This will be a new development in Paula's practice, contextualising the questions raised beyond her own personal story, to explore something more universal.
